Where’s Our New Home?
Immanuel Lutheran Building
630 Adams Street, Wausau, WI 54403
Whenever you’re nearby, swing by the corner of Adams & N. 7th St., slow down, and pray:
-
Thank God for this gift and His favor.
-
Ask His presence to fill every room.
-
Bless the neighborhood. That hope and healing would spread up and down these streets.
It’s a simple drive-by prayer, but every prayer prepares the ground for what God will do.

What’s Next?
On September 9, we’ll receive the keys to our new building, an incredible gift from Immanuel Lutheran Church. But before we can gather in that space, we need to prepare it.
This is more than a renovation. It’s an opportunity for every one of us to make this house a home for worship, discipleship, and mission, for generations to come.

Phase 1: Design & Direction
We’re forming a design team to help us shape what needs to be updated to reflect River City’s identity, everything from color schemes to furniture to lighting. We’re grateful the building is in excellent condition overall, but there’s still work to be done to make it feel like home.
Phase 2: Cleaning & Clearing
The first step will be to walk through the entire building to clean and clear out the spaces. Immanuel has been in the space for decades, and while they are obviously welcome to take anything they'd like, there will likely be many items left behind. We’ve offered to help responsibly reuse, donate, or remove any items they don’t take.
Phase 3: Family Workdays & Professional Projects
Once we finalize the design direction, we’ll identify what projects we can tackle together as a church family and what tasks will require hiring professionals. From painting walls to assembling furniture, everyone will have a chance to play a part.

God gave us a building.
Now lets make it our Home.
On April 28, we received incredible news!! The congregation of Immanuel Lutheran Church voted to sell us their building for $1.00! This was nothing short of God’s provision. We didn’t orchestrate it, and we can’t take credit for it. He opened the door in His perfect timing.
Since then, we’ve worked closely with their leadership and attorney to finalize the details. On July 7, Pastor Daniel and Elder Len Kats signed the purchase contract. Closing took place on July 31, and out of love and honor, we agreed to provide post-occupancy so Immanuel could gather until their final service on September 7.
On September 9th we officially received the keys. This marks the beginning of a brand-new chapter for River City Church.
We are overwhelmed with gratitude for God’s faithfulness and excited for the story He is continuing to write in Wausau through His people.
